LAL Torbay: 100% pass for DELTA course
Congratulations go to the teachers on our Cambridge DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults). All the students who took the DELTA course at LAL Torbay in the months leading up to June passed their exam. This successful course was organised and taught by Lucy Gubbin (Head of Teacher Training) and Sam Porter.
The success of these candidates continues the 100% pass record of DELTA candidates at LAL Torbay. We are the only DELTA training centre in Devon, and are proud that our DELTA students consistently perform so well.
The DELTA course is for teachers who have a CELTA qualification and have had two years of teaching experience. It is designed to look in much more detail at the things learned on the CELTA course as well as teaching theories and methodologies. Students are observed and assessed teaching classes in their own local schools and then attend a DELTA class one evening per week at LAL Torbay.
The course is demanding and it requires a lot of background reading and self-study. This is the qualification for teachers wishing to progress to management positions in language schools, open their own schools, or increase their knowledge of teaching English to foreign students.
The next DELTA course being run at LAL Torbay will begin on 20th September, costs GBP 1,800 and runs for 9 months.
For more information and to enroll please contact Kerstin Doerfler.

South Africa: Get ready for the beach!
Visit South Africa and take advantage of its high quality clean beaches! Close to both of our schools in Cape Town and Durban you will find Blue Flag beaches that are not only breathtaking but also fun to hang out at!
The Blue Flag Programme, started in France in the 1980s, promotes sustainable development in coastal areas through high standards of water quality, safety, environmental management and environmental education. The Blue Flag beaches in South Africa offer everything from solitude to glamour, and wildlife to highlife.
When studying at LAL Cape Town, don’t miss Camps Bay: Clifton 4th Beach, where the rich and famous hang out.

Durban - a surfer's paradise |

Not far from our school in Durban are Bay of Plenty, South Beach and North Beach. These three beaches are at the heart of the Durban beachfront, which is packed with hotels and holiday apartments. Here you can take a rickshaw ride, shop for curios or watch the world go by at one of the cafes and restaurants along the way. These beaches, especially good for swimming and bodysurfing, are the venues for many international events including surfing, volleyball and beach soccer tournaments.
Addington Beach is the calmest of Durban’s beaches and can also be easily reached from LAL Durban. It is protected by the nearby harbour entrance and is ideal for swimming, windsurfing, and snorkelling at Vetch’s Pier or learning to surf.
To find out more about beaches in Cape Town and Durban and about our language programmes in South Africa please contact Gavin Eyre.
