New international marketing and sales service company for schools - IMS
International Marketing Services (IMS) was set up in May 2007 as a new business within the LAL Group. As well as providing marketing and sales services for the LAL schools we are quickly establishing partnerships with a number of language schools and other education organisations around the world. We offer a range of flexibly priced services depending on your requirements. Services include a range of promotional activities (sales trips, representation at fairs, brochure & website production etc...). We have also established a representative in Brazil and are currently investigating in-country agent support initiatives in a number of other key markets.
We are particularly keen to establish partnerships with schools in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland as well as organisations providing programmes in Spanish, Italian, German etc... Introducing Erik Sadao, LAL's representative in Brazil!
In order to support our partner's marketing activities in Brazil we are very happy to announce the appointment of Erik Sadao as our Marketing and PR Consultant. Based in Sao Paolo Erik is in place to assist with information and training on the LAL's destinations and programmes. Erik will already be known to many of our Brazilian partners who have worked in the past with South African Airways and more recently with LAL South Africa. Erik is very excited about now taking on the challenge of developing the market for LAL's exciting network of destinations and will be very happy to hear from you! Records Continue to be Broken in the UK
We have all heard about the rain and flooding this summer in the UK with the highest amount of rainfall recorded for June and July in the UK. Our schools in Devon and Somerset have been very lucky with the worst of the weather and the floods being further up country and not affecting us too badly. |

One record that will not have been broadcast internationally is that with improvements to our school in Torbay and with the addition of the very popular summer school in Taunton, we are currently enjoying record numbers of students - more young learners and more adults are currently studying with us than ever before. You may be pleased to know that currently the sun is shining here and meteorologists are now forecasting good summer weather for the remainder of the season. Great news and even better that in recent feedback from students 98.5% of our adult clients said that they would recommend our school to a friend. |

LAL Torbay: Onward and Upward in 2008
The past few years have seen some exciting changes to our school including building the new gardens, adult lounge, café, gardens, patio, reception and you name it! This year we also began a partnership with Taunton School in Somerset offering a new young learner residential course - a fantastic location offering accommodation for around 300 students. We also formed a partnership with South Devon College, using their state-of-the-art facilities for our office and executive courses. For our leisure programmes, we expanded the number of destinations available to our adult students and increased the young learner programme from three weeks to four. Our courses have also improved with the introduction of our Focus classes for 8 students, Executive English lessons and the introduction of the DELTA teacher training programme. 2008 will see a continuation of these changes - new courses such as English & IT, English & Work Experience, and English & Golf have been developed to meet some of the changing needs of our clients (I suppose, especially those who want to work on a computer at a golf course!). |

We have plans to continue the development of the leisure programmes; residents of Hunter's Lodge will be able to book breakfast, and; prices are even being lowered on some adult courses and airport transfers! |
In addition to this, you may be pleased to see that our pricelist has simplified to make it even easier for our partners to work with us - registration fee is no longer added within the first week's tuition and generally we have one price throughout the year with a supplement for the summer. Of course, we will still have special offers - we have very low prices available for winter young learner groups and adult long- and short-term students, but the simplified pricelists should mean less broken calculators!
Regarding commission, in 2007 we pay commission on tuition, accommodation and transfer for adult clients and on the full package for young learners. In 2008, adults will have commission paid on both tuition and accommodation and again, young learners will have commission paid on the full package.

LAL Malta: Isabella Conti on maternity leave
Congratulations to Isabella Conti, Marketing & Sales Manager at LAL Malta - she'll soon give birth to her second son. LAL Fort Lauderdale: 2008 young learners programme exclusively at Lynn University in Boca Raton
We are pleased to let you know that our first summer at Lynn University in Boca Raton is going really good! The kids are enjoying themselves and taking advantage of the various activities such as fun at the beach, movie or bingo nights or optional excursions to such exciting places as Disney World or the Everglades National Park.
For 2008 we have decided to run our full young learners summer programme on the campus of Lynn University in Boca Raton. All of our young learners will then be able to profit from the campus atmosphere, the great recreational facilities offered (e.g. gym, pool, tennis, volleyball, basketball and soccer) and the high quality accommodation in triple rooms with private bathroom. Our school in Fort Lauderdale will then be exclusively dedicated to adults during the summer months.

To learn more about our two partner schools in the exciting and ever popular destination of Canada please check out the partners section of this website. Study English in Canada, Inc (SEC) has schools in Toronto and recently opened in Vancouver. Students joining SEC find themselves having many options from the beginning of their studies. There are three distinct pathways that will lead students towards their personal goals.
