| FREE famtrips to Malta and Torbay in October The best way to improve or start a collaboration is to see partners schools for yourselves and to meet and get to know the people working in the schools. In order for you to share in the exciting developments taking place throughout the LAL Group we have decided to open our doors to our partners - existing and new - by holding a famtrip in October 2006. Partners are invited to attend either or both Malta and Torbay. LAL will cover the costs of accommodation and transport in both Malta and Torbay* (*flights NOT included in package)  LAL Malta  Azure Window, Gozo In Malta visit the newly refurbished premises of our main school in Sliema, visit our brand new centre in Gozo and learn about exciting new programmes such as our pathway programme for students wishing to study at the University of Malta. In the UK take the chance to see the renovated all purpose centre in Torbay and our residential summer centres in Taunton, Somerset (new for 2007) and the upgraded Kelly College in Tavistock, Devon. | LAL Torbay: Kelly College on the Up! Contact us now for final spaces for 2006! Over the last 16 months, Kelly College, LAL Torbay's residential summer school for students aged 9-16, has gone through a sharp and upwardly bound move in its refurbishments. Kelly College is a picturesque Gothic-style independent school, set in the heart of Devon in south west England, situated on the outskirts of Tavistock, within easy reach of the unique Dartmoor National Park. The accommodation houses have gone through renovations giving a newer, brighter feel while adding some indoor games facilities when the British summer turns to rain. Gone is most of the old, dark, bedroom furniture. The walls have been painted, mostly in bright pastel colours, leather sofas adorn some of the recreation rooms, giving a real English, almost Gentlemen's club atmosphere, and more DVD players have been provided, along with a selection of DVDs and videos, to keep students occupied after a long afternoon playing one of the many sports and other activities we provide. Even the swimming pool, the training arena for Sharron Davies, one of England's foremost Olympians and Olympic Silver medallist at the 1980 Games, has been refurbished with a new roof and ventilation system.  Kelly College hall Last but certainly not least, Kelly College has at its disposal, the Adventure Centre - a professional outdoors pursuits facility, offering the students an unforgettable day or half-day of activities ranging from canoeing to climbing, archery to abseiling (rappelling). Whilst not included in the price, a very modest charge will secure a place at this not-to-miss facility. Included in our competitively priced package are 20 lessons General English with a comprehensive activity programme (6 activities per week), with special excursions bookable on-site. After the success of last year, and with Mark Cook, an experienced Centre Manager at the helm, with a strong, supportive team behind him, this year will prove to be even more successful. | New schedule for lessons at LAL Fort Lauderdale LAL Fort Lauderdale is looking forward to an exciting and enjoyable summer! | Honeymoon at LAL Torbay Honeymooners from Germany have travelled to LAL Torbay to learn the language of love in a foreign tongue. Thomas and Susann Vogel are from a small town near Munich. The couple was married on a Saturday and after their celebrations, they travelled straight to England to enrol on an English course in Torbay, our beautiful seaside holiday resort.  Thomas & Susann Vogel They spent half of their honeymoon studying in the Bay before travelling on to Scotland. Thomas, 31, and Susann, 29, both work in business banking and met at work five years ago. Thomas said: “We decided to come to study on our honeymoon because I need English for my job and the degree I am doing for the bank. We think Torbay is very nice. It is a great area and very beautiful. And we have had fantastic weather.” Glynis Ferrer, director of studies at LAL Torbay said: “We are delighted to have these two lovely students here. New Director of Studies for LAL Fort Lauderdale LAL Fort Lauderdale is delighted to announce the appointment of Ferdinand Estuniga as Director of Studies. Ferdinand has been with the school as a head teacher for eight years. He also served as Assistant Director of Studies before he left last year for a sabbatical in Spain. We are very happy that he returned and warmly welcome him in his new position. Diana Silberman's husband is retiring and they will travel Latin America and the Caribbean in search of their new home. | LAL Torbay: New Combined Course for Summer 2006 Adult students wishing to enjoy the benefits of more English lessons, using and learning communicative and grammatical English but also wishing to get outside in the sunshine and use this language out in the community, are now able to combine General English classes with English Out There. Students are able to enjoy twenty lessons per week in General English classes and a further fifteen lessons per week, preparing for and using English Out There in the community.
