You can hire cars at the Tour Desk at Reception at LAL. South Africa has a good road network, mostly tarred and well signposted. The speed limit is 120 km/h on highways and 60-80 km/h around town. Motorcars drive on the left-hand side of the road.
Golden Arrow government buses to the V&A Waterfront can be found on Beach Road. Remember to take all your belongings before getting off public transport.
Minibuses to Sea Point, Camps bay, Green Point or the city centre can be found on Sea Point Main Road. When using minibuses, please try to give the driver the exact amount of coins. Do not give the driver notes (e.g. R10 or R20) as the driver often does not have small change. It is normally R5 when using a minibus to the above-mentioned places.
Meter Taxi is R1.50 per km. Please phone them to organise a taxi. Please use meter taxis after 19.00 as public buses and most of the minibuses stop operating after this time. You can contact Marine Taxis on Tel: 021 434 0434; they charge about R40 to the city centre. Please ask for fares beforehand. There is a free phone at Reception which is a direct line to Marine Taxis.
Please Note: Keep your belongings with you at all times. Do not leave things behind on public transport, as they do not have a lost and found department.
