Restaurant

There is a restaurant where breakfast is served from 07.15 to 08.30. It is open for lunch and meals throughout the day and evening. Hot meals or salads, cool drinks and much more can be bought at a reasonable price.

Library

Reading is an essential part of the language learning process and we have a selection of novels adapted to each level (Beginner to Advanced). If you are interested in borrowing these books, please ask at the Reception.

School Safe

There is a safe in the office with 24-hour security and students are encouraged to keep their valuables there. If you would like to do so, please go to Reception.

 

Access to the safe is only during office hours (08.00 - 16.30 Monday to Sunday)

 

Please note that LAL and its staff cannot be held liable for any lost or missing valuable items.

Internet Room

E-mail browsing is available for free, 24 hours a day, except when the room is occupied for teaching. Please limit your time to 30 minutes to enable all our students to make use of the computers. Please do not use the internet facilities to download movies, MP3s and other large files. Please feel free to inform your friends and family that they can send e-mails and faxes to the school. We will make sure that you will receive all your correspondence. You are welcome to send faxes as well. The cost of sending a fax abroad is R20 per page. The LAL fax number is + 27 (0)21 439 1222.

Tea and Coffee

Tea and coffee are freely available outside. Please help yourself!

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool at the school is available for all our students to use. For safety reasons students are not allowed to use the pool after 22.00 and students are advised not to throw each other into the pool.

Pool & Darts Room and Lion’s Den Bar

There is a pool table with 24-hour access, at a charge of R2 per game.

 

The school bar is open every day from 19.00 until late. It is very important that you note that you must not drink alcohol from outside in the bar. No persons under 18 may drink alcohol in South Africa. Please inform the bartender if there is any kind of alcohol you would like to buy but which is not available at the bar. The bartender will make every effort to stock it in the future.

 

Our school bar is a fully licensed South African liquor outlet and falls under the South African Liquor Licensing Act. This means that we can only allow alcohol that has been bought at the school to be consumed here. It Is illegal to bring and consume your own alcohol on licensed premises. Please help us to abide by the laws of South Africa!
